On Tuesday, our 4th graders had a very special treat; they got to meet and actual author/illustrator and artist - Stephen Johnson! One of Stephen Johnson's most well known books is called Alphabet City, an ABC book where he uses real life items that happen to create letters of the alphabet,. After viewing this book during our library time, fourth graders began their own versions of an Alphabet School book. Students worked in groups to scout out letters in and outside of the building. They then used iPads to take pictures of them. Group efforts were joined together in order to create an Alphabet School book for each fourth grade class. We were able to share parts of our project by creating a special calendar as a gift to Mr. Johnson. During his presentation, Stephen Johnson was also able to share his most recent publication - his own version of Alphabet School. Later in the year, these books will be shared with our Kinders as they finish their Letter Stations. You can view 4th grade presentations during conferences in November! |
