After getting an introduction to community workers in a recent Reading Street unit, 1st graders completed their first research activity in the library in order to learn more about some of the important people that make up our community. Using PebbleGo, students researched four key questions about a specific community worker:

After learning about the Sibert Award, 2nd grade students explored their first Sibert book, Balloons Over Broadway. Through this informative book, students learned about inventor Tony Sarg and his contribution to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Like Tony, students created balloon floats in teams. Take a look at our Balloons Over Langston display in the slideshow below! 2nd grade and 4th grade students have been busy wrapping up our first trimester with digital projects! Our 2nd grade Bobcats used the Chatterpix app to share information about an animal they researched in their classroom as part of their ecosystem unit for science. 4th graders completed a research unit in the library and created digital projects using the Clips app to share their new knowledge.
