This week is the official "Hour of Code" as part of Computer Science Education Week where students all over the world are dipping into the world coding and computer science. 1st through 5th grade library lessons this week all celebrated by creating code in different ways. Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes that came in worked with partners to code directions for their "fuzz" through an app called Kodable. 4th grade partners completed the actual Hour of Code online to help navigate angry birds, zombies, and Ice Age characters to their designated end points. Also through the Hour of Code website, 5th graders collaborated with a partner in Play Lab to learn about coding and then apply their new knowledge by creating their own game. Students seemed to really enjoy the experience and satisfaction that came with being able to code directions for something successfully. Don't worry if your class didn't come in this week for your long library time, we'll continue coding over the next few weeks with all of our 1st through 5th grade classes! Kodable with 1st grade students. 4th grade completing Hour of Code. 5th grade coding their own games on Play Lab.
