In this round of lessons for 5th grade students we practiced note-taking and citing sources with a nonfiction book. Students began the lesson with a book bundle about one animal containing one fiction and one nonfiction book. After a quick review video about fiction vs nonfiction, student groups kept only their nonfiction animal book. Students then viewed a sample expectation for what they would be creating through a program called padlet. Prior to taking notes on their padlet about their animal, groups learned about easybib.com as a citing resource and entered in the necessary information in order to create their bibliography. The slideshow below shows a few examples from student groups in Mrs. King's class. Mrs. Dressman and Miss Hertlein's students will be completing this activity in the upcoming weeks as well.
