This week was a big "start" week for three of our grade levels, as each of them took part an in initial lesson for a multi-week library unit. 1st grade started a project for animals and their adaptations., which ties into their current science unit in 1st grade. Ultimately, students will create a picture and recording about their new, invented animal. 2nd grade had an introduction to various fun inventions; this will also eventually tie into an upcoming science unit.. In the library, we will tie in multiple Sibert Award winner and honor books to highlight various inventions and practice note-taking. Our final "start week" group, 4th grade, selected a type of energy they will be researching with a team. In upcoming weeks, they will focus on note-taking and creating a bibliography to cite our sources. Eventually, teams will create an animated news report to share their information.
