We're celebrating International Dot Day again this year, based on Peter Reynolds' book The Dot! Our Kinders kicked off this yearly event by watching the video version of the story and reading 10 Black Dots by Donald Crews, which shows students various ways to turn black dots into objects in real life. Students then received their own black dot and created a picture that was labeled.

1st-5th grade Bobcats also began Dot Day by watching the video version of The Dot. Students then were introduced to our new robots - Sphero! After a brief introduction, students broke off into two stations. During our Sphero station, student pairs took turns navigating their color Sphero through our cardboard-created course using an iPad. Students had a great time and loved meeting our latest library addition! At our table station, 1st and 2nd graders completed dot-to-dots to review various skills, while intermediate students started an intricate page of mandala circles. All in all, students seemed to enjoy their library day of dots, circles, and/or spheres. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our PTO and all of those who contributed to last year's school book fair in February; our Sphero robots were purchased with some of the funds raised through this event!
