5th graders are here for the rescue! Through a multi-week unit, our 5th graders have spent time learning and discussing what it means and looks like to be safe, respectful, and responsible online. In pairs, students created a skit intended for a younger audience, which focused on one of these three things. Skits could have dialog between a "superhero" and a "sidekick" to teach information in a preventative manner or between a "superhero" and a "villain" where one needed to correct or change the behavior of the other. Students used an app called PuppetPalsHD to create an animated version of their skit. Later in the year, their skits will be presented to our first grade students as part of one of their internet safety lessons. Hopefully, these presentations will "save the day" as our younger students become more involved with technology. Be on the look out during conferences in November for the opportunity to view our 5th grade Digital Super Hero presentations!
