Remember the book bundles you heard about last week? Well, 4th graders are using them too, but with a focus on the fiction pairing. After viewing a fiction vs nonfiction video, student groups determined which of their animal books was fiction, read it, and discussed story elements including main characters, setting, and problem/solution. Next, groups watched a short video clip regarding fact and opinion, then applying those skills to their animal fiction book as well. 4th graders also created a padlet page as a whole class where other students could read about the picture books each group used to practice identifying their features of fiction. Below are the pages from Ms. McGee and Miss Desmond's classes; Mrs. Laing and Mrs. McLenon's classes will complete this activity in May after completing activities to celebrate poetry month.
